Once, one of our readers wrote to us asking for advice on topics that were of interest to him.
We responded rather laconically, pointing out only certain important points in a given area, without dwelling on them too much. We also pointed out some visible positive processes that indicate that things are going in the right direction.
Here is the response we received (published with the author's knowledge and consent):

"[...] It's amazing how the right words can unlock something in a person....
But are they really just words? Words cannot express it, but I will describe what happened...

Maybe it was some kind of incredible coincidence, but right after reading your email, I felt a strong urge to sit down and meditate. I had all those sentences and images that I received in your email in my heart, and basically immediately after closing my eyes, something as if “pulled” me deeper inside.

It was so extraordinary and unlike any meditation experience I had had before that something inside me was “moving” or had “moved” several times, and I felt it physically, but at the same time I didn’t feel IT AT ALL! It lasted about 2 or 3 minutes and then started to normalize.

There was full consciousness, in the sense of no “drifting off” or falling asleep, stillness. At the same time, there was intense heat in the chest area and goosebumps (the latter was probably an emotional reaction to what was happening).

I realized, perhaps for the first time in a very experiential way, that this feeling that I both “feel and don't feel” is probably what I read about: You are in the body, but you are not that body.

That is, despite feeling these phenomena, I was not them, I was only a witness to their occurrence. It was very evident, clearer than ever before. It was a so-called “glimpse,” not fully integrated experience.

Ramana Maharshi taught through silence, but behind it there was an incredibly powerful energy; some felt and received it, others less so or not at all, depending on their individual readiness and openness to this knowledge.

What I read in your email, I feel as if it contained some kind of bundle, power, load, and it “unpacked” inside me the moment I sat down to practice?!?

I don't know, I don't want to analyze or speculate too much, but my great thirst for knowledge and your sincere and supportive words simply brought about something good.

I don't know how to thank you... [...]"

Commentary:

As can be seen, the written word — or rather, what lies behind it on a subtle plane — even when dressed in a form as prosaic as email, has its own power and ability to convey lofty spiritual states, or at least to open the door to them.

However, for something like this to happen, certain specific circumstances must be present, which can be described by three conditions:

1. Writers must reach deep into their hearts and write from there, from the authentic need and power that lies within, not from their heads, while maintaining crystal-clear intentions (this applies to both sides of the correspondence).
2. The recipient must be ready to receive a spiritual experience of high caliber.
3.The transmitter must have an active, open connection to the Self and the gift of sharing it (not necessarily even a manifested desire, it tends to happen on its own).

However, all these circumstances do not occur very often, and the third one is very rare. Nevertheless, with favorable winds, this is also a channel that can be exploited.
